  3. Step 03

    Download your BMP files

Save each file individually or grab them all at once. Done.

Why convert HEIC to BMP?

Some old Windows software, embedded tools and legacy pipelines only accept the uncompressed BMP format — and none of them can open an iPhone's HEIC photos. Converting HEIC to BMP decodes the photo and repackages every pixel into that simpler container, much larger than the HEIC but readable by software that's never heard of modern photo formats. It happens entirely in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

HEIC vs BMP at a glance

HEIC is Apple's default photo format — roughly half the size of JPG at the same quality, but barely supported outside Apple devices. BMP is Windows' raw bitmap format — pixel data stored uncompressed, which makes files enormous.

HEIC to BMP — frequently asked questions

Is this HEIC to BMP converter really free?

Yes — completely free, with no sign-up, no watermarks and no daily limits.

Are my HEIC files uploaded to a server?

No. The conversion happens entirely on your device using your browser's built-in image engine. Your HEIC files never leave your computer or phone — which is also why the conversion is nearly instant.

Will converting HEIC to BMP lose quality?

No. BMP is a lossless format, so the converted file keeps every pixel exactly as decoded from your HEIC.

What happens to transparent areas?

BMP doesn't support transparency, so transparent pixels are filled with a solid white background during conversion.

Why is my BMP so much bigger than the HEIC?

BMP stores every pixel's color raw with no compression at all, while HEIC compresses heavily using a modern codec. A large size increase from HEIC to BMP is normal and expected.

Why would I need a BMP instead of a HEIC?

Mostly for compatibility with older Windows programs, embedded systems or technical tools that expect a simple, uncompressed bitmap and have never heard of HEIC, let alone JPEG.
