Privacy Policy

Last updated:

Convertoverse is designed so that we handle as little of your data as technically possible. This page explains, precisely, what happens to your files and what little else we process.

Your files: in-browser conversions

Image and PDF conversions run entirely in your browser using its built-in image engine and WebAssembly codecs. The files you drop are read locally by your own device and are never transmitted to us or to anyone else. We cannot see them, log them or store them — no server receives them in the first place.

Your files: server-side conversions

Video, audio and office-document conversions require encoders that browsers don't include (ffmpeg and LibreOffice). For these, your file is sent to our servers over an encrypted HTTPS connection, converted in an isolated process, returned to you, and deleted immediately after the conversion completes.

Server-converted files are never stored beyond the lifetime of the conversion, never backed up, never inspected by a person and never used for any other purpose, including training or analytics. Each converter page tells you before you drop a file whether it converts in your browser or on our servers.

Cookies and local storage

We set a single functional cookie (NEXT_LOCALE) when you explicitly choose a language, so the site remembers your choice, and we store your light/dark theme preference in your browser's local storage. Neither identifies you.

We use no advertising trackers and we do not sell or share data with data brokers.

Analytics

We use Vercel Web Analytics to count visits in aggregate. It sets no cookies and stores nothing on your device — it only produces an aggregate visit count, never a profile of you. Vercel processes some request data transiently (such as your IP address, used briefly for de-duplication and then discarded) to generate that count, acting as our data processor for this purpose.

Server logs

Like virtually every website, our hosting infrastructure keeps standard, short-lived technical logs (IP address, user agent, requested URL) for security and abuse prevention. These logs never include the contents of your files.

Your rights

Because we don't create accounts or profiles, there is normally nothing personal for us to hand over or erase — files are deleted automatically as described above. For any privacy question or request under the GDPR or similar regulations, contact convertoverse@gmail.com.
